About the Group
On Saturday 31st August 2013 we all agreed on the Group's official constitution, which can be viewed here.
Our main aims are to;
- Encourage university students to study the biodiversity in the nature reserve,
- Encourage university students to volunteer with our local community to sustain the local green space and nature reserve,
The 'renovation of the nature reserve' and the 'reinvention of the local green space' have been split into two 'phases'. Phase One, Renovation and Phase Two, Reinvention.
We are accomplishing these aims by holding work parties, at which any member of the community may be involved. At these work parties volunteers will be able to help clean up and renovate the nature reserve. To accomplish our education aims, the project is also linking with local schools such as Beaumont College, Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy and local primary schools. Additionally, we are connecting with Lancaster University and Cumbria University to allow students the opportunities to volunteer at our work parties.
If you are local and would like to support this project, you can find out more about becoming a Friend of the Cranwell Avenue Green Park here.
If you would like any more information regarding work parties and volunteering, please contact us.
If you are a student who is wishing to study the nature reserve's biodiversity or anything regarding this project, please contact us.
